We thank the government of Guinea for having provided us with their support in organizing and engaging with these communities during a “sensibilization” project, which allowed us to engage, exchange and learn to work with them in partnership.

Economic Empowerment

Engaging with exceptional local workforce.

Over 70 % of our workforce comes from nearby villages, earning steady incomes while gaining mechanical and managerial skills that multiply local business opportunities.

Sustainable Livelihoods

We co-ordinate with local farmers and fishermen.

We coordinate dredging schedules with farmers and fishermen, protecting crops, nets, and spawning grounds so traditional livelihoods can flourish alongside responsible gold extraction.

Shared Infrastructure

Rebuilding local infrastructure to support local transport

By reopening and maintaining historic Russian-built roads and constructing new river ramps has reduced travel times by half, connecting Boure Kérouané, Makano, and Banfara to markets, schools, and medical care.

Inclusive Governance

Forging lasting partnerships with local authorities.

Through government-led sensitisation meetings, village chiefs, women’s groups, and youth representatives shape project schedules, safety protocols, and community-development budgets, ensuring decisions reflect local priorities and strengthen social cohesion.

Supporting Local Unity Through Football

At WAD SA, community support goes beyond infrastructure and employment—it includes nurturing the spirit and unity of village life. That’s why we proudly sponsor the local football team, helping provide equipment, kits, and safe playing conditions. Football is more than just a sport in these communities; it’s a gathering point, a celebration, and a symbol of shared pride.

Our contribution is a small but meaningful part of strengthening that bond, and we’re honoured to play a role in keeping local talent and tradition thriving on and off the pitch.
